For you sports fan/genealogists out there...
Last week the Versailles Tiger's football team ended their record winning streak by losing to Marion Pleasant in the Division V state championship games. Some members of the team were named to the Division V All-Ohio team. They are Chris SCHUH: defensive player of the year; Matt GRILLIOT: First team, offensive line; Steve HENRY: First team, defensive back. Additionally, Tony BERGMAN, Joel STAMMEN, and Brian PHILPOT received special mentions.

Engagement:
Emily Jeanne HARTNAGLE, d/o Terry and Rebecca HARTNAGLE of Greenville and Matthew Eric STALL, s/o Bruce and Jane STALL of Versailles, will be married this month in Oxford, Ohio.

Ten families were homeless and the village of Gettysburg was without telephone service as a result of an early morning fire in the Petersime Building.

A 30 year reunion for the class of '67 of Versailles High School is being planned for June 28, 1997. Co-chairs of the reunion committee are Joan ROLL and Dave BEY.

John STAHL Sr., 86, of Bradford, Ohio, died December 3, 1996 at home. Born November 24, 1910 in the Darke Co. area; s/o William A. and Audrey COUDDING STAHL. Wife; Mary Elizabeth WARNER. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Shirley Joan BENNETT, 62, of Versailles, died at home December 5, 1996. Born March 22, 1933 in Greenville; d/o Jerry and Mabel FRAMPTON CLARK. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Henry William APPLE, 79, of Covington, Ohio, died December 6, 1996 at Covington. Born Apr. 18, 1917, in Shelby Co., Ohio; s/o Alfred Henry APPLE and Minnie Idona APPLE APPLE. Wife; Ina Pearl KINGREY. Burial in Friedens Cemetery at Bloomer.

Leora F. PITTSENBARGER, 94, formerly of Versailles, died December 8, 1996 in Greenville. Born near Rossburg; d/o George and Martha RESER EMMONS. Husband; Richard Harlen PITTSENBA RGER. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Billy RIDENOUR, S 2/C, U.S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. William RIDENOUR, was one of the crew of the U.S.S. Phillipine Sea, a 30,000 ton aircraft carrier which was accompanying Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd on a trip to explore the Antarctic.
Jerry CASHMAN celebrated his 90th birthday.

Michael Douglas CLACK, Sr., 50, of Bradford, died December 10, 1996 at home. Born March 26, 1946 in Piqua, Ohio, s/o John W. CLACK and Mrs. Thelma M. MITCHELL CLARK. Married Mrs. Joan BRICKLER. Burial in Stelvideo Cemetery.

Ralph M. CROOKS, 87, of Bradford, died December 12, 1996 in Greenville. Born September 15, 1909 in Savannah, Ohio, s/o Jay M. and Irene McWILLIAMS CROOKS. Moved to Dar ke Co., Ohio in 1938. Wife; Edith ZIMMERMAN CROOKS.
