Death:
Gary D. WILSON, 48, of Versailles died June 26, 1996 at home. Born November 4, 1947 in Piqua, s/o Clyde and Myrl WILSON. Burial at Miami Memorial Park, north of Covington.

Captain Stephan GRILLIOT sailed from New York for duty in the European Occupations Forces.
It was reported that 91 soldiers from Darke County lost their lives during World War II.

Death:
Helen POEPPELMAN, 86, of Yorkshire, died July 6, 1996, at Minster, Ohio. She was born May 7, 1910 in Ft. Loramie; d/o Joseph and Elizabeth BARHORST GAIER. Married in Ft. Loramie on April 20, 1932 to Aloys W. POEPPELMAN who survives. 3 sons, 5 daughters, 39 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Burial in St. Martin's Cemetery, Osgood.

George MANGEN and Julia O'REILLY were married August 7, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church in McCartyville, Ohio. 10 children, 31 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Alan and Norma BERTLING recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married February 16, 1946 in Piqua. They live in Huber Heights, Ohio. Mrs. BERTLING is the former Norma MARTIN, d/o Henry and Olaf MARTIN of Versailles.

Mr. and Mrs. Steven KEISER of North Star and Mr. and Mrs. Steven KISTLER of Vandalia, announced the engagement of their daughter Angela KEISER to Craig WENNING, s/o Mr. and Mrs. Richard WENNING of Maria Stein. The wedding will take place in July, 1996 in North Star.

Death:
Leah G. TRITTSCHUH, 76, formerly of Versailles, died July 13, 1996 at Tipp City, Ohio. Born Dec 10, 1919 near Rosehill, Ohio, d/o Henry J. and Anna M. LIPPS HITTLE. Children and siblings listed. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Upcoming Event: "Piqua Prepares for Ninth Annual UNDERWEAR_FESTIVAL." It takes place Oct 12 and 13 in downtown Piqua. There will be such events as the Undy 500 and the Drop Seat Trot. There will be a Celebrity Underwear Auction. Too many events to mention here. "The Piqua Historical Museum will be open throughout the festival, with displays pertaining to the eight underwear and knitwear factories that flourished in Piqua at the turn of the century."

Debra Ann HOMAN, d/o Herb and Charlene HOMAN of Ft. Recovery, and Douglas Joseph RUHENKAMP, s/o Leon and Janet RUHENKAMP of Versailles were married March 30, 1996 in Sharpsburg.

Engagement:
Andrea Louise KREMER, d/o Mary Eleen and Tony KREMER of Celina, and Robert Kevin BEESON, s/o Linda NEWCOMB of Boston, MA, will be married August 3, in Montezuma. Andrea is the granddaughter of Lewis and Betty KREMER of Versailles.

Golden Wedding Anniversaries:
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce FELLERS of Versailles, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Bruce M. FELLERS and Lucille C. MEINERDING were married July 6, 1946 at Ithaca.

Eldon and Alice (MOONEY) BARGA of Piqua are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on July 28, 1996. They were married Jul. 27, 1946 in Portland, Indiana.

Norman J. COUCHOT, 54, died Jul. 18, 1996 at home in Newport. He was born January 1, 1942 in Sydney, s/o Benjamin and Mary Elizabeth HENRY COUCHOT. Spouse: Carol Kay ARMSTRONG.

John GRILLOT of Versailles was recently presented a veteran's award from Gov. George Voinovich, in recognition of GRILLOT's work with the Governor and the state. He is a veteran of the Korean War and holds positions with various veterans organizations.

Believers in Our Lady of Fatima will gather in Heritage Park in Versailles on August 16 at 7:45 PM. Representatives from over thirty parishes in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati are expected to attend.

Richard and Alvina OTTE KUNK of Celina are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on August 4. They were married September 1, 1936 at Cassella, Ohio.
