| This page is dedicated to the Memory of Captain Charles Wendell Riffle, US Army Air Corps who was killed in an airplane crash on March 2, 1947 near Eldorado, Ohio, while flying to Union City to see his family. He had flown more than 45 successful missions in Europe. On Christmas Eve, 1944, his plane was shot down and he was taken a German prisoner of war. He was released in May of 1945. Wendall has passed the examination to be commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in the regular Army but didn't live to take the commission. Wendell, we will never forget... |
